TEFE A+ BIP Wins International Recognition with PROFFORMANCE Award

The TEFE A+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) has been awarded the PROFFORMANCE International Higher Education Teacher Award 2024/25. This recognition is an important milestone for our consortium, highlighting the commitment, creativity, and collaborative spirit that has driven our work in the field of teacher education and internationalisation over the past five years.

The TEFE A+ BIP brings together student teachers, teacher educators, and educational stakeholders from across Europe to explore International Teaching Practice (ITP) as a powerful approach to innovative teacher education. By combining digital, physical, and intercultural learning components, the programme offers a practice-oriented model for embedding internationalisation into teacher education systems in inclusive, accessible, and meaningful ways.

This award recognises not only the innovative design and pedagogical impact of the BIP, but also its contribution to a broader European dialogue on how to prepare teachers for increasingly interconnected classrooms and societies. It is a tribute to the hard work of the TEFE A+ consortium and acknowledgement that we are advancing in the right direction. 

Join the TEFE A+ Initiative: Internationalising Teaching Practice Across the EU!

Welcome to the Teachers of English for Future Europe (TEFE A+) initiative, an Erasmus+ KA220-HED project focused on the internationalisation of teaching practice for pre-service teachers of English across the EU. Our mission is to implement the TEFE Framework (former project) and international teaching practice within the TEFL/TESOL study programmes of our consortium, enhancing the employability of English teacher graduates.

Building on the success of the TEFE project (2020-2023), which united six European universities, TEFE A+ aims to integrate international teaching practice into teacher education. We develop strategies, provide placements and supervision, and promote the TEFE Framework. Over the project’s three years (2023-2026), we aim to engage institutions, educators, mentors, and students across the TEFE consortium and the wider EU.

Our activities include the annual TEFE BIP International Teaching Practice (ITP) Induction Programme, the creation and facilitation of ITP placements and internships, intensive staff training events, and teacher mentor support. We also provide training for educational stakeholders and will host a Dissemination Conference in 2026 to share our findings and deepen the understanding of the role of ITP in training future English teachers. At the end of the TEFE A+ project, we will produce an evaluation report on its implementation.

Participants in our project have access to resources including the TEFE Framework, the TEFE Charter, and the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) platform, which  serves as the project’s digital interface promoting collaborative international learning and interactive engagement.
